Whyan Chen (Po Chieh Chen), was born and raised in Taiwan and has over 10 years of dance experience. Over this time, he has become known for fusing dance styles, informed by his training in Jazz, Hip-Hop, Dancehall and Contemporary.

In November 2019, he moved to Sydney, Australia, where he has been teaching performance choreography, specializing in Street Jazz and Commercial. Prior to this, he spent seven years working across multiple locations in Asia as a dance teacher, choreographer, and performer. He also underwent professional training in Los Angeles.

In recent years, his passion for choreography and teaching led him to create an independent training project called Chromatic. As its creative director, he explores the many complex layers of the LGBTQI+ community through movement, music, and color.

Last year, he performed his first duet piece with his team MINAIDE in a show titled Don’t Look at Me. This production brought together six individual Asian artists, each expressing their unique perspectives and artistic visions. With more exciting projects on the horizon, his creative journey continues to evolve.

Throughout his career, he has collaborated with renowned artists, including Taiwanese icons Jolin Tsai, A- Mei, and Della, as well as Australian artists Keiynan Lonsdale, Dyan Tai, and Clio. He has also worked with international stars such as Nicole Scherzinger (The Pussycat Dolls), Tina Cousins, and Inaya Day. Currently, he is working with Hans on a brand-new show, Young, Fun & 21, for the Adelaide Fringe Festival.
