Transmedia Worldbuilding Residency Exhibition
In collaboration with Antariksha Studio.
The Transmedia Worldbuilding Residency was a collaborative capability development program delivered as part of 4A’s expanding digital and experimental platform. The residency took place over five months, supporting five emerging South Asian Australian women and gender diverse artists and creatives who work across game design, storytelling, sound, performance and interactive media.

The residency places cultural storytelling, empathy and embodied experience at the centre of a new worldbuilding practice. The artists had the opportunity to learn from international mentors and creative studios to develop original transmedia worlds that move across games, digital environments and physical installations. They were also supported to translate their personal stories and collective narratives into immersive digital forms.

This exhibition and each individual installation is the result of the residency’s rigorous program of online virtual labs from December 2025 to March 2026, with a final in-person intensive in Sydney in April 2026. These works-in-progress showcase the potentiality of each individual artists that continues to evolve well after the end of the residency.

This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body throught its ‘Create Lab: Digital Alumni Fund’.
